I’m not sure if I’ve fulfilled theses readers wishes, and I’m OK with that!

When I’m bored, I like to look at the search terms that people have used to find my blog.  After reading these, I figure I better find another past time.  If you happened to find my blog using any of these terms, I’m scared!  But thanks for stopping in, I think =/

Ps, don’t know why but I feel the need to file this under motivation =P

Final Workout and Mucho Sappinesso

26 Feb

Six (7, if you include my “remix” week) weeks later, I am done with the Runners Training Guide “From couch to 5k program” and I couldn’t be more ecstatic.

Last task:

15-20min light jog, confidence run.  I jogged (avg 6.1mph for 15 minutes) and walked the rest.  For no other reason than I just felt like I could.

This journey has been a long, arduous one filled with:

-tears (yes, I cried during a couple of workouts…is that snickering I hear?!?),

-expletives (and cursed worse than I do in DC traffic),

-sweat (like the pig I am),

-pain (damn fronts of ankles, hamstrings, shins, and dry heaving).

On the flip side, I’ve learned a lot about running, meeting goals, and most importantly myself.

When I started this journey, I was scared crapless of failure but also afraid of success.  I didn’t know if I could or if I even wanted to be someone who loved to run.  But I knew I was intrigued enough to try.  Since I hate to fail, I assumed I would finish the program, but that’s about it.  The fact that I didn’t even decide to do a race until a week ago is further proof that my goal up until that point was to ‘finish the program and journal my experience.’ (more…)

The Jogger

So I like to find theme songs for big events in my life.  These theme songs I usually play on my victory ride home…blasting through my very cheap car speakers, annoying everyone in sight.  But I think special moments deserve the right to have a song to commemorate the occasion and, well, I think running my first 5k qualifies.

So I was looking for a theme song all day (and pretty much avoiding any remnants of work in the process) for Sundays race…and I still haven’t found one.

But I did find this interesting little masterpiece.  Apparently written by Shel Silverstein, who I love.  But somehow I’ve never heard of this so I wanted to share with you.

Random right?  And a little quirky.  Like me.  But since Mr. Bare’s voice kind of makes me want to throw up in my mouth then shoot myself in the foot, probably NOT the best choice for a theme song for running.

Thus, I’m still on the hunt.  Please let me know if anyone has any good suggestions.
